Firefox has been influencal since the mid-sixties. The museum helps preserve the cultural history of the mountains. It is on Black Rock Mountain, the same mountain is home to Black Rock Mountain State Park. I recently visited both sites in the same day, and it made for a great day.

The curator of this museum gave us a fabulous tour of the properties. Many local crafts people were present and happy to share some of their abilities with us..We learned so much about the time less wonders that are the traditions and cultures of the Appalachians.

Wow, just wow. It's amazing. They not only obtained and relocated real historic building but, they put them all over their land, the property, to give people a real sense of how they would have originally looked like. Info also allows you to know more about each building, their use and previous occupants. Great for adults and good to show kids what like was life before 24/7 entertainment and electronic devices.

You should know before you go that it is a hiking trail not just some air conditioned museum to walk through. You walk through the woods to look at old buildings- most of which you can only look through the window of. The lady at the loom was really nice and knowledgeable. The broom maker saw us talking to her and left and closed her building at 3 when they are supposed to be open until 4:30. The Chapel was pretty...

Thought it was really interesting. I would go back to see an event if I was in the area again.
